Nervous Nellies
Today we're talking about Nellies! Nervous Nellies. My mom was 40 when she had me so pretty much as soon as I was cognizant enough to take notice of anything other than my well being I realized how worked up my mom would get. She would worry if I went to the mailbox by myself, if someone wanted me to ride a skateboard, she'd get worked up if she couldn't find the frog-eye sprinkler head. At the time, I didn't understand that the reason you get worked up when you're older is that you realize how difficult things can be and how quickly they can turn sour. You have experience enough to know that happiness is momentary and can fly away just as quickly as it got there. I have a lady at work who came up to me this morning and said she didn't sleep last night. I asked why. She said the insurance is changing and it's going to be more money. At first, I was thinking 'big deal' but then I realized to an older person who's hubby is retired and you are the only one working that just may be a big deal. I reminder her that her house is paid for and her hubby is stellar at savings. He's got two car's worth of savings socked away when their cars give out. She said, "But when you haven't earmarked that savings for medical." She's right. So, I told her gently "Don't worry." That is a case of 'easy for me to say.'

Today
I think it's funny, that the first time I decide to pick this back up is exactly a year from my last post. Weird. Anyway, what I want to talk about today is about Marges. I'm a Marge, you may be a Marge, or I'm sure you know a Marge. Now, what I don't get is why they tell us to wear slimming colors and patterns. WTH?! We're Large Marges. No amount of color or pattern is going to make us look like we're small. We're not and so I think rather than try to camouflage it we should embrace it! Large Marges of the World UNITE!

Work, work, work...
I really do love my job. It's interesting, the people are fun, it's varied enough to keep me from being bored out of my mind. But it is work. I work to live not live to work.
Had dinner with my daughter and her live in boyfriend last night. Do people even use that term anymore. I've been out of the loop so long I haven't a clue. It's funny because when Martin asked for my hand in marriage my dad's first words were, "You can't bring her back." Then he said, "I'll give you money if you'll elope." To which my mother replied, "Why don't the two of you just live together." I could not believe it...I was more conservative than my parents...who can say that? It's not strange in my family. I've always been more conservative than EVERYONE in my family and I like it that way. It's funny though because my kids are more like my parents and brothers and sisters. Go figure! The dinner was very nice and it was nice to visit with them.

My Man
My hubby woke me up this morning bright and early. I'm fighting a cold and I wanted to sleep in, and was in fact in the middle of a dream. I wasn't too happy. He turned on some acoustic music which is one of my faves and I started to think about all the people in my life who are alone and want to be loved and can't find anyone. Or the widows and widowers who miss their spouses and I realized how blessed I am. Blessed beyond measure. My husband is a gift from God and I need to remember that when he doesn't put away his laundry, and when he cooks and drops food on the floor and doesn't pick it up, or wakes me up too early. Because we'll not have each other forever. It's a precious gift that's lasted 28 years and who knows how much longer I'll be allowed to keep it. But it's mine and I hear him in there making homemade spaghetti sauce and the acoustic music is playing and I'm HAPPY!

Tempis Fugit

Time really does fly! I can't believe it's been over a year since I've been on here. So much has happened that I think I'll just begin from here. What a night last night at 3am we hear a loud crash I woke up with my heart beating like crazy and my car alarm was going off. We realized it was thunder. I couldn't go back to sleep, so I stayed awake and when I finally drug my sorry sleepy butt out to the car it wouldn't start. My hubby had to drive me in and I'm exhausted. So, I'm heading out to the coffee cart in the lobby to get me some Java. Sheesh...I hope I make it to 5.

Work, Life, BUSY!
Whew! I've been busy at work and home. I have replaced all the furniture in my living room. Yesterday I finished buying the kitchen table. And I'm going to replace the rug and furniture down in the family room. Busy, busy, busy. Amazing how exhausting buying furniture can be. It was the first time in 24 years of marriage that my husband sent me to purchase such a big purchase without him. I'll admit it was difficult and threw me into a tailspin. But...I did it! And while at the beginning I doubted my purchases...I think I did a great job. Hopefully, I can get on here and save some pictures. I'm also working on a grandmother's flower garden baby crib quilt for my SUZZAH, she's due February 5th! I'll try to get a picture of that as well. Byeeee!!!
